SINGAPORE, 30 October 2024 – ENGIE Group, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, announced key leadership appointments in Southeast Asia, effective November 1, 2024. Pierre Cheyron, Managing Director, Energy Solutions, AMEA will lead Energy Solutions in the region, while Varun Gujral, CEO, Global Energy Management & Sales APAC has been appointed as Country Head for ENGIE in Southeast Asia (ENGIE). Both appointments follow the departure of Thomas Baudlot, who will be relocating to France to take on an exciting new role as the Chief Digital & IT Officer for Energy Solutions GBU.

 

Pierre Cheyron, who was previously the CEO of ENGIE South East Asia from 2019 to 2020, expressed his enthusiasm about continuing the tremendous work that Thomas has led. He added “It's an exciting time for Southeast Asia as sustainability and carbon reduction come into focus with countries striving to meet their 2030 targets. Thomas' efforts to strengthen ENGIE’s partnerships with key players like Sunway Group in Malaysia and Filinvest in the Philippines have established a strong foundation for the future. I look forward to deepening our customer relationships and advancing ENGIE’s decarbonisation strategy to address the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.”

 

Varun Gujral, who will oversee ENGIE’s operations in South East Asia commented “Thomas has played a pivotal role in expanding our regional portfolio, representing One ENGIE and leading projects that deliver decarbonised energy solutions for global clients like Mölnlycke. His leadership has been critical in positioning ENGIE as a comprehensive sustainability solutions provider, leveraging the expertise of our various Business Units. I am excited to continue scaling our efforts to cement ENGIE’s position as a key player in driving sustainable energy transition in Southeast Asia.”
